Whale and Hare Stew

 

Catch a mature Gray Whale.

Clean and debone the whale and cut up into bite size pieces.

Place all pieces in a large stewing pot 

(or many smaller pots if you can not find a big one).

Cover with water add two medium onions. 

Stew on medium heat for three days.

While the stew meat is simmering hunt or procure a large hare 

(rabbit for you “Westsiders”).

Clean hare and debone. Cut hare into bite size pieces.

When the stew meet is tender ladle off half of the fat. 

(retain for later use)

Clean and cut 3497 lbs. of potatoes into bite size pieces… 

Add to stew meat.

Clean and cut 1734 lbs. of carrots into bite size pieces..  

Add to the stew mixture.

Simmer all ingredients for two days over a medium heat.

Add salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste.

Add flour or other thickening agent to desired consistency, 

stirring continuously to avoid sticking and lumping.

When done serves a village.

If it looks like there is not enough stew to serve 

an entire village add the hare to the stew to increase volume.

Cook for an hour and continue serving.

 

Caution: Some people may refuse the stew when they find a hare in it.
